Hello and welcome!  I'm Kym.  

I wrote this textbook for anyone pursuing or considering a career in acting.

It can be hard to know who to trust for your career education, so here's a little about me... 

I've spent sixteen years working as an actress in Hollywood (check out my IMDB), with speaking roles in over sixty SAG-AFTRA feature films and TV series - including several 2023 releases. 

I just produced my first feature film - 'Other You' (premiering 2024!) 

I'm a member of The Television Academy (Emmy Nominating Committee), American MENSA, and a 2023 Convention Delegate for SAG-AFTRA (The Screen Actors Guild).

I'm a regular speaker for SAG-AFTRA, Women In Film & TV, Spotlight UK, and the Media & Entertainment Arts Alliance where I share what I've learned with thousands of actors each year. 

I've also worked in casting, film development, production, post-production, and distribution.  

And fun fact:  I actually BOOKED the role I was auditioning for the day before I filmed the video you can see above!  It was a one day guest star on the TV series SWAT!  Woot woot!

Each show has between 5 and 15 Series Regs, and will hire 20 - 200 guest star and co-star actors each year (depending on the style of show).  

Per SAG-AFTRA:

A co-star role pays $1000+ per day.
A top of show guest star is $10k+ per episode.

Plus royalties (residuals) in perpetuity.

Each feature film hires between 2 and 40+ actors in speaking roles (depending on the script). 

Base pay rates for feature films vary dramatically depending on the SAG-AFTRA contract category.

"When I came to LA at age 22, I didn't know any of the 'right' people.  I spent the first years feeling lost, overwhelmed, and very broke - not knowing where to get auditions, and asking anyone I met for advice...
